Jessica Orbock
Senior Counsel for Research
As Senior Counsel for Research, Ms. Orbock provides advice to the units of the Office of Research. Ms. Orbock’s areas of responsibility include:
- Sponsored Projects Administration
- Intellectual Property Licensing
- Technology Transfer and Entrepreneurship Activities
- Research Compliance Requirements
- Contract review, including Sponsored Project Agreements, Material Transfer Agreements, Data Use Agreements, and Non-Disclosure Agreements
- Drafting and interpretation of policies related to research activities
Ms. Orbock also serves as General Counsel to the University of Georgia Research Foundation and as Director of Operations for the Office of Research. Her office is located at the Paul D. Coverdell Center.
Prior to joining the University of Georgia, Ms. Orbock practiced intellectual property and business litigation as a senior associate attorney with Smith, Gambrell & Russell in Atlanta. In that role, she worked with the Intellectual Property and Corporate practice teams representing diverse clients in complex trade secret, unfair competition, trademark, licensing, and patent infringement matters.
Ms. Orbock earned her Bachelor of Arts in pre-law with distinction from Pennsylvania State University and her juris doctor from Wake Forest University School of Law, where she was a member of the Moot Court Board.
