Assistant Counsel for Research

As Assistant Counsel for Research, Mr. Hall provides advice to the units of the Office of Research. Mr. Hall’s areas of responsibility include:

  • Contract review, including Sponsored Project Agreements, Material Transfer Agreements, Data Use Agreements, and Non-Disclosure Agreements
  • Research Compliance Requirements
  • Drafting and interpretation of policies related to research activities

Mr. Hall also serves as Associate General Counsel to the University of Georgia Research Foundation. His office is located at the Paul D. Coverdell Center.

Prior to joining the University of Georgia, Mr. Hall worked at a commercial litigation and transactional law firm near Atlanta. Before that, he clerked for the Honorable Ashley Royal in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Georgia. While in law school, he served on the Managing Board for the Georgia Law Review and interned for the Supreme Court of Georgia and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. Before law school, Matt founded a successful software development company that published over 200 apps to the Apple and Android stores.

Mr. Hall received his bachelor’s degree in English and his juris doctor from the University of Georgia.
